Honestly, no — not if you need AI text detection. BSmeter doesn't assess whether writing was machine-generated at all, so it can't replace Sapling for grading essays or screening cover letters. It's an alternative only in the sense that both tools help you evaluate content you don't trust. If your question is "did a bot write this?", use Sapling. If it's "is this person telling the truth?", use BSmeter. Plenty of people have both problems and use both tools.

Can Sapling AI Detector check a YouTube video or podcast?

No — it works on text only: pasted text, PDFs, or DOCX files. If you separately obtained a transcript of a video, Sapling could tell you whether that transcript reads as AI-written, but that's a different answer from whether the claims in it are accurate. A script written entirely by a human can still be full of false statements, which is the gap BSmeter fills.
